About
A studio for
the quiet,
the unfamiliar.
Alien Abstract is the ongoing studio practice of Omer — a body of sculptural reliefs that hold the unfamiliar in plain view.
The work draws from two quiet traditions: the spare clarity of Scandinavian design and the patient, generous space of Japanese aesthetics. Hand-built stoneware, patinated bronze, copper laid by hand into every aperture — materials chosen for how they hold light and time.
Each piece begins as a single mark and refuses to explain itself. The result is a small body of forms that feel borrowed from elsewhere — not menacing, not sentimental, simply present.
The studio works slowly. Pieces are made one at a time and offered as originals. Commissions are open by conversation.
I.
Material
Stoneware, patinated bronze, sage celadon and burnished copper — chosen for their unhurried surfaces.
II.
Method
Long sittings with a single form. Carved, pierced, fired, and rimmed by hand. The piece decides when it is done.
III.
Meaning
Bodies that arrive as visitors. The work is finished when the room itself feels different.
